------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the Red Jacket Press newsletter, where we'll keep you up to date on current and future publishing projects.

RED JACKET PRESS 25% OFF SALE

We may be biased in our opinion, but we think books make terrific gifts — they're gifts we always appreciate receiving (though I think we enjoy giving them even more). The holidays are the perfect time to share favorite books (or new discoveries) with family and friends.

In that spirit, we're offering sale prices on entire catalog from November 25 through the end of the year, with free shipping. Here's how it works:

Buy any Red Jacket Press limited edition facsimile reprint, and receive 25% off each additional facsimile reprint and free shipping.

Or, buy any three "Second-Stage Lensman" trade paperbacks, and receive 25% off and free shipping.

Click on the "25% OFF SALE" link on the top of most pages on our web site for complete details.

A GREAT HOLIDAY GIFT

While we'd like to think that any of our facsimile reproductions would be a welcome gift, there's one in particular that celebrates this joyous holiday season.

Drawing upon the legends that coalesced over centuries into the familiar, jolly form of Saint Nicholas, Seabury Quinn tells a surprising new origin for this most beloved of children's icons and the origins of Christmas in our reissue of the celebrated fantasy novella "Roads," which features illustrations by the legendary fantasy artist Virgil Finlay. "I have not tried to paint the portrait of a man," he wrote, "but merely to present a personality and hazard a guess as to the motivation that makes Santa Claus the wondrous figure he is — a figure who more than any other exemplifies the beauty of selflessness."

Our limited edition reissue of "Roads" is a complete and detailed reproduction of the 1948 Arkham House edition, fully authorized and packaged in a deluxe gift box that includes a booklet with biographical information about the author and illustrator.

"Roads" has long been a particular favorite in the Kyle family, and a book we've wanted to bring back into print for many years — we're especially delighted to be able to make it available again for the holiday season, and we think it makes a wonderful gift.

RECENT REVIEWS

"Famed with her husband Henry Kuttner for turning out superlatively compelling and complex stories for the pulps, both jointly and singly, Catherine Moore began writing in 1933. But she had to wait nearly 20 years for any of her fine tales to achieve single-author book form, and ["Judgment Night" was] the long-awaited result."

"It's easy on the surface to see why SF fandom loves ["Children of the Atom"] so much: It's the fairy tale we all believe about ourselves. Different from the common herd, neglected, ridiculed, ignored, only to triumph when allied with others of our kind. But if this kind of pandering was all that the novel offered, it never would have survived so long, with such high acclaim."
